How to find your purpose

Throughout all my life, I knew what I wanted to do. Even though it wasn’t clear at times, I felt what this thing is.

I wanted to help others. I wanted to be the one to save them. I wanted to be their light in the darkness.

A week ago, this thing became crystal clear to me.

I went out with one of my girl friends, who said she had something for me. (my birthday just passed and she wanted to give me something)

When I arrived, I see a bag near her.

After she handed it to me, I opened it, only to be surprised by one of, if not the best gifts I’ve ever received.

She gave me two things. One was a “Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius.

And the other was a drawing she had made, that looked like this:

She said:

“I know how much you want to help others. Because of that, I want you to represent the light that guides others through the darkness.”

Ok, she might’ve said that in a not-so-serious tone with a not-so-serious face.

But still, these words warmed my heart.

We spent a few more hours together, time in which I tried sharing my wisdom, of course. :)))

Based on her responses, I didn’t think anything stuck with her.

But when she got home, she wrote to me:

“…Thank you again, I think you might’ve just started some change.”

And I’m not kidding when I tell you that, after reading this message, I walked home smiling from mouth to ears, almost crying of happiness.

If you saw me on the street you’d either have thought I was crazy or on a lot of fucking drugs.

Because that’s what helping others and seeing them want to change because of me is...a drug.

Passions are like drugs. Once you start them, it’s hard to let go.

But ok, I went on this whole rant in front of you, but what’s the point of it all?

After all, you’re here to find your passion, not to hear me rant about mine.

And that’s a very good question. I did it because I wanted to. :))

#betterstorytelling

Just kidding. There is a reason for all of this.

You see, I said earlier that, for all my life, I knew, or I felt where I wanted to be.

But that’s because I got lucky, extremely lucky.

A passion is something that resonates deeply with the core of our hearts.

And I had hit the jackpot.

I’ve been helping others and myself since I was 8 years old.

I don’t even know if I created this passion, or if it created me.

Most think that one’s passion revolves around a job or a career in something.

But, in reality, it is not confined to a profession, it is a direction.

Passion paves your path to a happy and more fulfilled life.

I’ve always heard people that said when asked what was their passion, “Nothing”.

And one of two things was the case there. Either they are very fucking shallow people, or they haven’t even tried searching for it.

Taking this in reverse, I’ve found the 2 key components of finding your passion:

1. Create yourself:

Let’s imagine you’re a drug addict. Sorry for offending, but I’m sure I’m not far from the truth. (jkjk 😄)

You right now and the person you want to become have close to no chance of desiring the same things and having the same passions.

And, even if you do, the former personality is gonna have a lot more problems finding it.

So the first thing you need to do is to create your true identity.

But first, we need to find that true identity.

Our most sincere personalities can be found in our early years, our early passions, just like I’ve shown you in the story above.

Even if you had a scarring childhood, you can still find in it most of your defining traits.

This is where the fun part comes in.

✨Introspection✨

Yup, that’s right, you need to go have a talk with the little you.

May be one of the hardest things you’ll ever do in your life. I know for me it was a great deal of pain.

But it will be the most rewarding thing as well.

This will be the backbone of your entire life.

Find out what that little kid loves, fears, wants, needs, hates etc.

Heal yourself and him at the same time.

I could talk without end about introspection, but we’re already too far gone,

So let’s get into the actual passion:

2. Begin searching:

Now that you know what your truest self loves and what he wants out of life,

You can guide your way through it by those guidelines.

Let’s say you like helping others (like me👊)

But don’t want to do something relating to personal branding or Twitter (even though you should) etc.

That’s because we all have our main destination, in this case helping others. But the way we get there is very different.

Think of helping others like a destination, as I said above.

Then, the different ways we take to get there would form how our path looks.

Just like this. (yes, I made this, thank you) 😎

How you get there, and what you do along the way, combined with your destination (the main goal),

That’s what forms your passion.

So, you know where to search.

All you need now is to go and try as many things as possible.

And the beautiful part about this is:

You never leave your road, you just shape it however you want.

If you started helping others by doing what I’m doing now, but later decided to go in as a therapist,

All the skills you’ve learned along the way remain with you.

Everything you’ve learned, everything you’ve done doesn’t go away.

That’s the amazing part about life:

Our journeys are never the same, even though our end goals may look familiar.

And that’s another lesson for you today:

Focus on your journey, not the destination. Only one of those makes you who you are.

Summary:

  1. Find your truest self, and base your life’s art on it

  2. Search for your own journey, and pave it as you want.

Ok guys, that was it. Thank you so much for reading.

If there’s even a single person that got this far, then I am a successful writer. (still blows my mind how others read my stuff)

I make my best to become better with every article and I hope this one stayed true to that model.

If you want to be a giga-mega-chad, I’d appreciate it if you shared this newsletter,

So that I basically can feel better about myself. (jk jk, I want to help them as well) 😂

Until next time, keep growing and have the most
